Hampton Trio Make An Impact At The Australian Open.

Hampton's Dennis Williams, Christian Thornhill & Haydon Day have had a spectacular 2 weeks at the $ 100,000 Australian Open staged at the Darebin International Sports Centre. The trio won their three qualifying matches to earn a place in the main draw along  teams from around the country and some international teams.  The trio then went on to defeat a team of state players from South Australia, a team from Queensland and a team made from Victoria Premier Division players to earn themselves a place in the quarter finals. They then met eventual winners, skipped by Victorian State player Wayne Roberts. In a high standard quarter final the trio were defeated in two sets. It was an amazing performance, making all at Hampton proud . Well done Dennis, Christian and Haydon.

Hampton's greens were officially opened on Sunday 28/8. Cr Andrew McLorinan from Bayside Council was present for the ceremony along with delegates from the R.V.B.A & L.V.B.A. A short game of bowls followed in pleasant conditions along with an afternoon tea. I am sure all of the members are looking forward to the upcoming pennant season with the men's practice matches starting next Saturday.
